Epstein influenced lawmaker’s House grilling of Trump’s ‘fixer’: ‘Quick I’m up next’

Convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein, in 2019, texted tips to a House lawmaker grilling President Donald Trump’s fixer-turned-foe Michael Cohen, according to a new report.

This week, the House Oversight Committee released a trove of documents in which Epstein claimed that Trump “knew about the girls” and was the “dog that hasn’t barked,” sparking a political firestorm and flurry of denials from the White House.

The Washington Post on Friday flagged new documents from the Epstein estate that show he appeared to be texting a member of Congress during a congressional hearing with Trump’s former personal attorney, Cohen.

The Post said those text messages “may have influenced the lawmaker’s questions of Cohen,” who was testifying against Trump before the House Oversight Committee.

“In the texts, Epstein appeared to be watching the February 2019 hearing in real time and at one point informed the person he was texting — whose name is redacted from the documents — that Cohen had brought up former Trump executive assistant Rhona Graff in his testimony,” the Post noted.

“Cohen brought up RONA – keeper of the secrets,” Epstein wrote.

“RONA??” the lawmaker replied, adding: “Quick I’m up next is that an acronym?”

“Thats his assistant,” Epstein replied.

The Post noted that even though the congress member’s name was redacted, time stamps of the text messages and video of the hearing indicate he was likely texting Democratic Del. Stacey Plaskett of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Plaskett’s chief of staff, Angeline Jabbar, told the newspaper on Thursday she was “not in a position to confirm or not” whether the lawmaker was texting with Epstein.

After Plaskett grilled Cohen, Epstein messaged “Good work.”

At another point, Epstein texted the lawmaker, “Hes opened the door to questions re who are the other henchmen at trump org.”

“Yup. Very aware and waiting my turn,” the lawmaker replied.
