Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro and wife to be arraigned in Manhattan federal court

Deposed Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, are expected to be arraigned at the U.S. district court in Manhattan at noon Monday on charges that they enriched themselves through drug trafficking. Venezuela’s future — and Washington’s role in it — remains uncertain after Maduro’s removal by U.S. forces. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States would wield its leverage to pressure the country’s leaders, while President Donald Trump said the United States is “in charge.”
