Morrissey cancels first two concerts of 2026 due to ‘adverse reaction’ to prescription medication

Morrissey’s year is off to a rough start.

The British rockstar, 66, canceled his first two concerts of 2026, which were set to take place in Rancho Mirage, Calif. on Jan. 3 and in San Diego, Calif. on Jan. 6.

A statement on the Morrissey-Solo website said that the first show was postponed due to “an adverse reaction to a prescription medication.”

“Please hold onto your tickets as they will be honored for a rescheduled date. Should you wish to request a refund, please contact your original point of purchase,” the statement read.

As for the second planned show, the San Diego Civic Theatre wrote on Instagram,“Please note the Morrissey event scheduled for January 6 at the San Diego Civic Theatre has been canceled. Refunds are available via point of purchase.”

Morrissey’s next concert is scheduled for Jan. 10 in San Antonio, Texas.

The Post has reached out to Morrissey’s rep for comment.

Morrissey canceled several shows for various reasons throughout 2025.

In November, he quietly called off several international concerts, including five in South America, due to “extreme exhaustion.”

Two months earlier, the former Smiths frontman had to cancel shows in Boston and Connecticut due to a “credible threat” to assassinate him onstage.

“In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life,” read a notice on the star’s official social media pages at the time. “Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and band,” the two dates were pulled.

A 26-year-old man from Ottowa was later arrested and charged with making threats on Morrissey’s life on Bluesky. He was released on $5,000 bail.

In June 2025, Morrissey canceled another concert in Stockholm and claimed he had “zero music industry support.”

“The pain at not reaching Stockholm this week is horrific for the band and crew. I know it’s impossible for people to understand, but we dream of Stockholm, Reykjavik, Trondheim, Helsinki, Aarhus … but there is no financial support from imaginary record labels to get us to such places,” he wrote in a statement on his website.

“In the last seven days we have traveled into six countries, and we are travel-weary beyond belief. We can barely see,” he continued. “We pray to God that someone, somewhere can help us reach Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark … where we have thousands upon thousands of friends, yet absolutely zero music industry support.”

Morrissey added, “No label will release our music, no radio will play our music … and yet our ticket sales are sensational. What does this tell us about the state of Art in 2025?”

The singer’s latest tour kicked off in North America in Sept. 2025, with his final show slated for March 16 in Seville, Spain.
