President Donald Trump shared a stunning photograph Saturday of what appears to be Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro on board the USS Iwo Jima following his capture by American forces earlier Saturday morning.
“Nicolas Maduro on board the USS Iwo Jima,” Trump wrote bluntly on his social media platform Truth Social Saturday, alongside an image of Maduro.
In the photograph, Maduro can be seen wearing grey sweatpants and a sweater wearing dark glasses, possibly to obscure his vision as he’s transported to New York to face trial on drug trafficking charges. He’s also seen clutching a water bottle.
Trump announced early Saturday morning that he had ordered a “large-scale strike” on Venezuela as part of an operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro, an operation that was ultimately successful. No deaths have been reported in the attack, though an offhanded remark made by Trump earlier on Saturday suggests that Venezuelans might have been killed.
