An 18-year-old from suburban Charlotte has been arrested and charged with plotting a New Year’s Eve terror attack, officials announced Friday.
Christian Sturdivant, of Mint Hill, NC, is accused of planning to assault a grocery store and fast food restaurant using knives and hammers, according to WSOC-TV.

The FBI’s Charlotte office said Sturdivant was “directly inspired to act” by ISIS. A press conference to reveal further details was set for 11:30 a.m. ET.
The bust follows last year’s ISIS-inspired New Orleans truck attack by Shamsud-Din Jabbar, in which 14 people were killed and 57 others were injured on Bourbon Street as New Year’s Eve celebrations were winding down.
