MAGA fans melted down on Wednesday after reports indicated that Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s inauguration in New York City would include a historic element.
The New York Post reported on Wednesday that Mamdani will be sworn in on a Quran during the oath of office ceremony, marking the first time an incoming mayor has used the religious text for the ceremony. Mamdani is a practicing Muslim and will be the city’s first Asian American mayor.
MAGA fans reacted to the news on social media.
“The New York Times is glazing Mamdani, they’re glazing the Quran, they’re glazing Islam, it is sickening!” Trump ally Steve Bannon said on his “War Room” podcast.
“Tells you so much…” Christian radio host Janet Parshall posted on X.
“Today marks the last day of NYC reign as the best city in the world,” MAGA influencer Murray Hill posted on X.
“New York forgot,” MAGA TV personality Eric Daugherty posted on X.
“Will America allow a Hamas-aligned Marxist foreign national to hold office and weaponize our institutions against us – with impunity?” Amy Mekelburg, founder of the RAIR Foundation, posted on X. “The answer sits on Attorney General Pam Bondi’s desk.”
“A very clear message: Allah’s law is superior to American law,” Italian right-wing media outlet Radio Genoa posted on x.
