Hollywood power couple George and Amal Clooney have officially ditched America for sunny France, and President Donald Trump did not hold back on New Year’s Eve after learning of the news.
“Good News!” Trump declared on his Truth Social platform, calling the A-list duo “two of the worst political prognosticators of all time.” He derided the Clooneys’ new home country as reeling from a crime crisis fueled by immigration mismanagement, which he compared to policies under the Biden administration.
Trump didn’t forget Clooney’s dramatic political flip-flop.
“Remember when Clooney, after the now infamous debate, dumped Joe during a fundraiser, only to go onto the side of another stellar candidate, Jamala(K!), who is now fighting it out with the worst governor in the Country, including Tim Waltz, Gavin Newscum, for who is going to lead the Democrats to their future defeat,” Trump asked his fans.
Trump then claimed Clooney’s political commentary generated far more buzz than his film career.
“Clooney got more publicity for politics than he did for his very few, and totally mediocre, movies. He wasn’t a movie star at all, he was just an average guy who complained, constantly, about common sense in politics,” Trump concluded.
Trump’s screed comes after George Clooney sounded off on Trump’s MAGA-fied America in a new cover story for Variety Magazine published on Tuesday. The interview was published after Clooney and his family were granted French citizenship
Clooney spoke to Varietyabout the state of the media following Paramount-Skydance-owned CBS News’ hiring of Bari Weiss as its editor-in-chief.
“Bari Weiss is dismantling CBS News as we speak,” Clooney told the outlet. “Am I worried about film studios? Sure. It’s my business, but my primary loyalty is to my country. I’m much more worried about how we inform ourselves and how we’re going to discern reality without a functioning press.”
Clooney also chimed in on recent Supreme Court rulings and the state of the Trump administration. He expressed optimism about America recovering from the Trump administration.
“Just straight up, it’s the economy, stupid,” Clooney said. “It’s more expensive now than it was when Joe Biden left office. And powerful people tend to overplay their hands. I think that cruelty, like separating children from their parents, although popular with small groups of people, doesn’t play well with most Americans.”
