James Ransone poses with ‘Poker Face’ star Natasha Lyonne in final photo before his tragic death

James Ransone was hard at work months before his tragic death.

Ransone, who was most famous for his role in HBO’s “The Wire,” was photographed on the set of Rian Johnson’s Peacock TV series “Poker Face” with lead star Natasha Lyonne last year.

In the image, Ransone made a crooked face at the camera as Lyonne, 46, smiled and snapped the selfie of the pair.

Lyonne posted the photo to her Instagram Stories while she was promoting the show earlier this year. A fan account for the actress reshared the photo on X on June 17, writing, “Natasha Lyonne and James Ransone on set of Poker Face.”

Ransone played Juice, an impulsive thief, in “Poker Face” Season 2 Episode 7, which marked his final TV role before his death.

The episode, which was released June 5, featured other guest stars including Sam Richardson, Corey Hawkins, Geraldine Viswanathan.

At the time of his death, Ransone had zero posts on his Instagram account.

Lyonne, 46, reacted to Ransone’s death in the comments section of his wife Jamie McPhee’s heartbreaking Instagram post that she shared on Sunday night.

“Love you with everything I got and holding our beloved brilliant peejo with grace gratitude and cosmic peace into this life and the next — family forever,” Lyonne told McPhee.

“Beautiful Jamie you are the best of us we love you,” the “Russian Doll” star added.

Ransone, 46, died by suicide on Dec. 19, according to the LA County Medical Examiner.

His cause of death was listed as “hanging,” while his place of death was listed as “shed,” records show.

Ransone famously played Ziggy Sobotka in 12 episodes of “The Wire” in 2003.

Ransone was open about his struggles with addiction before his death.

In 2016, he revealed in an Interview Magazine story that he got sober at age 27 “after being on heroin for five years.”
