The life of Rob Reiner will be honored by TCM with a special programming tribute that will include a presentation of “The Princess Bride” on Jan. 28, 2026.
“With ‘This is Spinal Tap’ Rob began an extraordinary 11-year run that rivals the finest directors in Hollywood history: He made ‘The Sure Thing’, ‘Stand by Me’, ‘The Princess Bride’, ‘When Harry Met Sally’, ‘Misery’, ‘A Few Good Men’, and ‘The American President’,” TCM host Ben Mankiewicz said.
He continued: ;”The profound sense of loss we’re all feeling is heightened by Rob’s lofty standing in Hollywood, he was universally loved inside the entertainment industry. I did not know him as well as I would have liked, but he always made me feel like we had been pals for decades. Rob’s character was defined by the qualities we see in those films: kindness, decency, humor, compassion, and most of all, a belief in humanity.”
The night will begin with a network premiere of “The Princess Bride” that will be followed by “When Harry Met Sally,” “Stand By Me,” and “This is Spinal Tap.”
Rob and Michele Reiner were killed Dec. 14 in their Brentwood home. Their son, Nick Reiner, was taking into custody and has been charged in their deaths. Their daughter, Romy Reiner, reportedly discovered their bodies.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” Romy and brother Jake Reiner said in a Wednesday statement. “The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
“We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life,” they continued. “We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”
