  • The government shutdown is over, and federal workers are set to receive back pay soon.
  • The White House laid out an agency-by-agency projection of when workers should start seeing checks.
  • The administration says the first checks will arrive on Saturday and continue through November 19.

Federal workers who went without pay during the government shutdown are about to see bigger paychecks than usual.

At 43 days, the longest shutdown in American history came to an end on Wednesday night, when President Donald Trump signed a bill to reopen the government.

Now, the White House is laying out an agency-by-agency projection, first reported by Semafor, for when federal workers should begin receiving their back pay. All federal employees who were not paid during the shutdown will be receiving a “supercheck” covering their pay since the beginning of October.

That includes workers who were sent home on “furlough,” despite the administration previously raising questions about whether they would be automatically paid.

Workers won’t get the paychecks all at once — some are expected to receive them this coming Saturday, while others will have to wait until as late as November 19.

Additionally, federal workers at some agencies will only initially get back pay for the month of October, with the remainder of their back pay coming in a later paycheck. Others will receive back pay for the entire period of October 1 through November 15.

A senior administration official told Business Insider that those discrepancies are due to federal agencies having differing pay schedules and payroll providers.

Here’s when workers at different agencies are expected to receive back pay, according to the projection.
