Travis Kelce is shaking off the Kansas City Chiefs’ playoff elimination as best he can.
Three days after the NFL team lost their chance at competing in the Super Bowl, the tight end made an emotional statement about the “obviously f–ked up” situation on “New Heights.”
“Chiefs Kingdom, we’re gonna give you everything we got,” Travis, 36, told podcast listeners of the remaining season on Wednesday. “There’s no question about that.”
The athlete insisted there is “only one way” he and the Missouri-based team’s coach, Andy Reid, “do things.”
He explained, “If we’re gonna go out there and play some football, we’re gonna do it the right way and, keep trying to get these things fixed and end on the highest note that we can.
“All I’d know is to go out there and play my ass off and to show up and, you know, give my guys the best chance to win,” the “Catching Kelce” alum continued. “I think that’s the mentality, man. There’s an integrity thing here.”
Travis noted that it is an “honor” to play “at the end of the day,” adding, “When you sign up for the gig, you’re living out your dreams. You’re living out a kid’s dream that never got a chance to do this.”
He concluded, “If there’s a game to be had, baby, I’m gonna go out there, and I’m gonna love f–king playing in it, no matter if it’s a game that’s in the playoffs or gets us in the playoffs or a game that seems like it doesn’t have any implications of that. And that’s the integrity you gotta f–king go out there with.”
The Chiefs, notably, have three games left against Tennessee Titans, the Denver Broncos and the Las Vegas Raiders.
Since losing to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, the teammates are in “kind of unfamiliar territory.”
Jason, 38, pointed out that the Chiefs haven’t been eliminated from the playoffs since 2014, with Travis replying, “I’m the only one that’s been on the team long enough to see us not make the playoffs.”
Travis neglected to speak about the loss over the weekend, telling reporters that it was “not the time.”
His family members, including fiancée Taylor Swift, sister-in-law Kylie Kelce and his nieces, were at Arrowhead Stadium for Sunday’s devastating game, during which quarterback Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL.
Travis said on Wednesday that the Chiefs now have to “go back to the drawing board.”
He did not speak to his personal NFL future on the heels of Mahomes, 30, fueling rampant rumors that Travis will retire.
“Every season I’ve had with him these last few years, I try to cherish because you never know,” Mahomes cryptically said Sunday.
