Late Night Pops Off on Trump Popping Up in Epstein Email Thread

Welcome to Late Night Roundup, a rundown of the previous night’s highlights that lets you sleep — and lets us get paid to watch comedy. Here are the 50 best movies on Netflix right now.

But His Emails

On Wednesday, House Democrats voted to release private emails from Jeffrey Epstein that alleged that President Trump “knew about the girls.”

“Fine, Epstein mentioned Trump in an email. That doesn’t mean he did anything wrong,” Josh Johnson said on “The Daily Show.”

“Maybe the email was about how Trump never comes to his sex parties — rude.” — JOSH JOHNSON

“[imitating train conductor] Ladies and gentlemen, the Trump train is experiencing a slight delay. There is an Epstein file on the tracks. We should be moving as soon as we get that cleared.” — JOSH JOHNSON

“Also, why was Jeffrey Epstein writing about his crimes in emails? That’s so dumb. He’s firing off his Blackberry to Ghislaine, like, ‘Hey, girl, following up about the sex crimes. Hope Trump doesn’t snitch about the sex crimes. Hit me up if you want sex crimes this weekend.” — JOSH JOHNSON

“Say what you want about Donald Trump, but he knows better than to put incriminating [expletive] in emails. He does it in person, or on the phone, or reportedly inside a sketch of a naked lady, but never email.” — JOSH JOHNSON

“I say this because I’m an American, living in America, and no matter what party you’re in or who you voted for, it would be better for all of us, as a general matter, if we do not have a sexual predator as president.” — JOSH JOHNSON

The Punchiest Punchlines (Back in Business Edition)

“Earlier this morning, Congress released new emails that show President Trump’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Trump heard and was, like, ‘Bring back the shutdown. Bring it back.’” — JIMMY FALLON

“House Democrats today released emails in which Jeffrey Epstein says that President Trump ‘knew about the girls.’ It’s what Chuck Schumer is calling ‘Strike one, Mr. President!’” — SETH MEYERS

“That’s a really big first day: ‘All right, here’s the key to the ladies room. Over there is the Xerox machine. Down there is a room where you are going to topple the pervert cabal.’” — STEPHEN COLBERT, referring to newly sworn-in Arizona Representative Adelita Grijalva

The Bits Worth Watching

Wednesday’s “Late Night” guest Matthew Broderick recalled an Apple Watch mishap during a performance of “Plaza Suite.”

What We’re Excited About on Thursday Night

The WNBA all-star A’ja Wilson will appear on Thursday’s “Tonight Show.”
