Latino voters were key in delivering wins to Democrats on Tuesday as majority-Hispanic counties that voted for President Donald Trump by wide margins in 2024 flipped blue.
Counties where Latino citizens make up a majority of the voting-age population shifted 28 points toward Democratic Senate candidates who flipped seats in deep-red states.
All 10 of the counties with the biggest swings leftward were majority-Hispanic, with nine being in Texas and one in Kansas.
Majority-Hispanic counties in Texas moved 34 points left. That swing was even more dramatic in some South Texas counties in the borderlands, such as Starr County, a 96 percent Latino county that shifted 72 points leftward.
Seward County, Kansas, saw one of the most dramatic shifts of all majority-Hispanic counties nationwide, swinging to Democrats by 52 points.
