King Charles gives emotional update on cancer battle

King Charles III just gave an emotional — and positive — update on his cancer battle.

“Today, I am able to share with you the good news that, thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to doctors’ orders, my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the new year,” Charles, 77, revealed Friday in a pre-recorded TV message as part of Channel 4’s “Stand Up to Cancer” night.

The announcement was recorded late last month ahead of the launch of a new online screening tool for UK citizens.

Though Charles’ cancer is not technically considered “in remission,” Buckingham Palace said in a press release that he has “responded exceptionally well to treatment,” prompting his recovery to reach a very positive stage.

The details surrounding the monarch’s type of cancer and form of treatment will remain private.

The Palace previously confirmed that Charles was not diagnosed with prostate cancer despite having been treated for benign prostate enlargement in January 2024.

It was during that intervention that a separate issue — his cancer — was detected.

He disclosed his diagnosis the following month.

The king considers his current health status a great “personal blessing” and a “testament to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care in recent years.”

He’s also grateful to have continued leading a “full and active life” while upholding “all of his State duties” throughout his treatment.

Remaining busy with a sense of purpose “has helped greatly with the positive mindset that, as many families will know, is such a vital a part of the recovery journey,” the Palace noted.

Charles made sure to send his “particular good wishes to all those affected by cancer” and vowed to “continue to hold them and their loved ones in his thoughts and prayers.”
