Dax Shepard had to shoot his shot at Kate Hudson — even if she was married at the time.
The “Parenthood” alum revealed how he hit on the actress back when she was still married to Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson during the Tuesday episode of his “Armchair Expert”podcast.
Shepard recalled to his guests, Sara and Erin Foster, that he saw Hudson at a poker game at her brother Oliver Hudson’s house and wasn’t deterred by her being with Robinson at the time.
“I gave her 111% of any charm I have,” he said. “I just thought she was so f–king beautiful and I love [her movie] ‘Almost Famous’ and, oh my God, I can’t believe she’s here.”

“I remember leaving going like, ‘Well, this is as good a job as one can do,’” he added of trying his hardest to woo her. “She’s married, who cares, but that was a great first showing. I just had a crush on her.”
After Kate, 47, and Robinson, 59, eventually separated in 2006, Shepard said he tried again at a mutual friend’s dinner party in Malibu — and it worked.
“From that night on we were just together every single day,” he shared.
The two briefly dated in 2007 for a couple of months, and Sara noted they “got serious fast.”
Shepard agreed, recalling, “Making out, f–king all day long.”

Kate was married to Robinson for nearly seven years, from 2000 to 2007, and they share a son together, Ryder, 22. She was also previously engaged to Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, 48, with whom she shares son Bingham, 15.
The “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” star has been engaged to musician Danny Fujikawa, 40, since September 2021. They share daughter Rani Rose, 8.
Meanwhile, Shepard, 51, has been married to actress Kristen Bell since October 2013. They’re parents to two daughters — Lincoln, 13, and Delta, 11.
Shepard and Bell, 46, have made headlines over the years for candidly speaking about the ups and downs of their marriage.
Bell appeared on Monday’s episode of “Armchair Expert,” and revealed the bizarre way her husband flirts with her: by complimenting other people’s looks.

“There’s a couple things Dax does where he doesn’t have to look up and wink at me, but I know that he’s just being the best boy,” the “Nobody Wants This” star shared.
Shepard, according to Bell, will tell their waiter or waitress, “Wow, you have incredible eyelashes, gorgeous eyes. Great, great job.”
Their confession shocked Bell’s co-stars and Shepard’s co-host, Monica Padman, who insisted that Shepard is “flirting” with the waitress — and not her, his wife — in those situations.
“But that’s flirting with me,” Bell disagreed, “because he just made someone else feel good.”
