Collin Gosselin received support from Colleen Conrad, his dad Jon Gosselin’s ex-girlfriend, after the release of his bombshell memoir, exposing the alleged abuse he faced from mom Kate Gosselin.
“Collin, where do I even begin? 
A #1 New York Times bestselling author! Who would have imagined that all those years ago? I am so incredibly proud of you!” Conrad said in an Instagram post Saturday, alongside a montage of photos with the author over the years.
“When you came into my life, you had already been through more than any child should ever have to experience. I didn’t know what the years ahead would bring, but I knew I loved you and wanted you to feel safe, loved, and supported.”
Conrad wrote that watching Collin grow up into a young man has been “one of the greatest joys of [her] life and something she will “treasure forever.”
“Listening to your book was incredibly emotional. It brought back beautiful memories, but also painful ones. I was going through breast cancer, the end of my relationship with your dad, and so many changes in my own life.”
Conrad also shared that they “helped each other through some incredibly difficult times.”
“The Audible version didn’t include your acknowledgments. When my book finally arrived, I read what you had written to me and cried all over again,” she penned.
Conrad concluded, “No matter how old you get or where life takes you, I will always be your mom. I will always love you and cheer you on. Congratulations, Collin. You deserve all the happiness and success life has to offer. Love you always. ”
In the comments section, Collin thanked Conrad for her support and expressed his love.
“I love you I loved that you say you needed me too. It just shows how meant to be everything was. If I could’ve gone through all the hard things again I’d gladly do it, because it led me to you. You’re kind, loving, funny and you love in a way that a real mother should.”
Collin continued, “I’ll forever be grateful to have you in my life. Thank you for listening, showing up, and never giving up on that young, broken, hurting little boy who didn’t believe in himself. Sometimes all we need is to know our mom believes in us and it gives us enough faith in ourselves .”
Jon and Conrad dated from 2014 to 2021. Jon was granted sole custody of Collin in 2018.
Despite Jon marrying Stephanie Lebo in November 2025, Collin has maintained his close relationship with Conrad.
In his memoir, “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood,” Collin, now 22, describes his alleged horrific living conditions before being sent to a behavioral facility when he was a pre-teen.
Amongst the shocking allegations, he claims Kate brutally locked him in a “small holding cell” for two years, where he was completely isolated from the rest of his seven siblings.
However, the “Jon and Kate Plus 8” alum has vehemently denied all of Collin’s claims and has attributed them to him being mentally ill.
“Rational logical [people] or anyone who has dealt with mental illness understands what’s going on here,” she wrote via a TikTok comment earlier this month.
The reality star’s remarks were in response to a supporter who labeled Collin’s claims as “terrible lies” and said it “should be illegal to defame someone” in a memoir.
Jon, meanwhile, has staunchly stood by his son and threatened legal actionagainst his ex-wife.
