New White House press secretary Katie Zacharia started her term Monday and will hold her first briefing Tuesday, President Donald Trump said.
“Katie has been with me, in spirit, from the very beginning, and will do a fantastic job!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Zacharia replaces Karoline Leavitt, who left the role on Aug. 27 and was the youngest person ever to hold the position. Trump announced on Friday that he had selected Zacharia, who was briefly a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security, to be the White House press secretary.
Zacharia is an attorney and mother of four who was previously a commentator on Fox News and Newsmax. At the time of her selection as press secretary, she was a communications adviser to Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social.
Her first news conference will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the White House press briefing room, Trump said.
