‘They clearly lied’: Tech insider says Ken Paxton may have just endangered his own app

Texas Attorney General and U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton had a simple challenge for the crowd that came to see him and President Donald Trump rally in San Antonio, Texas: download his app, and use it to get your friends to the polls for MAGA.

“I need you to get Right Insight, which is our app, where you can put all of your contacts in and you can track each day of voting, whether your friends voting and you can remind them everyday: if you want me to stop harassing you, go vote Republican,” said Paxton. “Can y’all do that? And I’ll have people outside the doors who’ll help you do that.”

There’s just one problem, political tech consultant and Apple alum John R. Eakin noted on X: Paxton seems to have violated the App Store rules with how the app is being used.

“Ken Paxton likely just got his app vendor kicked off the App Store. They clearly lied when they submitted their app,”‘ he wrote. “Check out the nutrition label. They claim they don’t capture/track any data on personal devices.”

He provided a screenshot of Right Insight’s privacy policy, which guarantees “the developer doesn’t collect any data from this app” — even though, by Paxton’s own claim at the rally, it is collecting users’ contact information.

Paxton has been struggling in polls against Democratic state Rep. James Talarico, which has set off alarm bells among Republican operatives as they pump campaign cash into Texas to try to save the GOP Senate majority. But this effort has been complicated by a series of leaks from the Paxton campaign that appear to throw President Donald Trump under the bus.
