South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson pushed back on claims that Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) made during an interview on CNN about her interaction with local police officers during an incident in October.
Mace was involved in a confrontation with security at the Charleston International Airport in October that investigators said occurred because Mace turned a “simple miscommunication” into a “spectacle,” according to a report by The Washington Post. During the incident, Mace allegedly called airport security agents and police officers “f—— idiots” and told them they were “f—— incompetent,” according to the report.
CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins confronted Maceabout her comments during an interview on CNN on Tuesday, Mace denied saying any of the things that were listed in the report.
Wilson responded to Mace’s claims on Wednesday.
“First off, it’s a categorical lie,” Wilson said.
“There are half a dozen people who gave reports, statements that she used,” Wilson added. “They’re all saying the same thing. Is everyone lying and she telling the truth? And it’s not just this one incident. Apparently, there’s a handful of incidents over the last year where she is cussing out TSA, cussing out security.”
“This is something that goes back not just this past month, but for the last year,” he continued. “At the end of the day, she’s saying things that are delusional. This basically reminds me of a spoiled brat, an entitled spoiled brat.”
