The director of the F.B.I. is getting hitched.
Kash Patel, 46, and his girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins, 27, announced their engagement on their social media accounts on Sunday with heart and ring emojis.
“Went and got the law involved,” Ms. Wilkins posted on X, along with a black and white picture of the couple in which she shows her ring.
Mr. Patel, who became F.B.I. director in February 2025, and Ms. Wilkins met in the fall of 2022 at a party at the Nashville home of the country music artist John Rich. The event was a celebration of the release of Mr. Rich’s song “Progress” on President Trump’s Truth Social platform.
At that time, Mr. Patel, who had been an aide in the president’s first term, was a Truth Social consultant opining on conservative podcasts and selling merchandise branded “K$H”-and children’s books praising “King Donald.”
A publicist had brought Ms. Wilkins, who was living in Nashville, to the party. Mr. Patel complimented Ms. Wilkins on the jacket she was wearing that night. By early 2023, the couple were dating.
Their relationship became better known in Washington in early 2025, when Ms. Wilkins sat in the gallery during Mr. Patel’s Senate confirmation hearing.
“I just liked that he was so honest,” Ms. Wilkins said on “The Megan Kelly Show” last year. “His character is incredible, his values are incredible.”
Their relationship has also drawn scrutiny — including from inside the Trump administration — over Mr. Patel’s use of government jets and F.B.I. agents for himself and Ms. Wilkins.
F.B.I. tactical agents ferried Ms. Wilkins to a resort in Britain before a dinner at Windsor Castle last year, and at another time to an appointment at a hair salon in Nashville. In another instance, agents in two S.U.V.s stood guard outside a senior center in Ronald Reagan’s boyhood hometown of Dixon, Ill., as Ms. Wilkins performed for a group of young conservatives.
