MS NOW’s “The Weekend” made fun of President Donald Trump on Sunday. First the hosts mocked his newest explanation for the Iran war, then they played a montage of him apparently dozing off.
The segment opened with a clip from one of Trump’s recent speeches, in which he described the U.S. strikes on Iran.
“They unloaded every single bomb, went right down air chutes into this drug factories. Really, that’s what they were doing,” Trump said. “They were nuclear and drug. They were doing drugs, but they were doing the nuclear. But these drug factories slash nuclear factories were hit so hard.”
One host couldn’t believe it.
“Is there a drug, nuclear and drug factories?” the host asked.
Fellow host Jonathon Capehart compared Trump’s shifting explanations for the war to a diner menu.
“This is like going to the Greek diner. And they’ve got everything from cheeseburgers to sushi,” Capehart said. “This man’s got more excuses for the Iran war.”
Jacqueline Alemany said the show’s “eagle-eyed producers” had noticed the “slip” during the speech.
“I don’t have much to add, but this feels like a good time to transition to pictures of Trump sleeping,” she added.
The show then played images of Trump with his eyes closed at public events. Capehart explained that Trump and his staff “keep saying that he never sleeps.”
“Maybe he dreamed of the drugs,” Alemany joked. “He’s knocked out,” said Capehart as they all laughed.
The montage ended with a clip of a Trump official being asked whether he had seen the president fall asleep in meetings.
“That’s false. That’s false. I’ve never seen him fall asleep,” Marco Rubio replied.
“If you have to say that you’re a supermodel, you’re probably not a supermodel,” Alemany chimed in.
