President Donald Trump mourned the loss of his life prior to entering politics during his rally in Ohio Saturday night, telling attendees he “didn’t have to” be “working my a– off” and could have instead opted to live a private life in luxury.
“I had a great life, I had a nice, simple life before this. I didn’t have to be here on Saturday night going like this, working my a– off in front of you people!” Trump said. “I could have been home, I could have been in Monte Carlo, I could have been wherever the hell I wanted to be! I didn’t need to be here, but I love you people, and I love it. I wouldn’t switch!”
Trump has made similar remarks for more than a decade. In 2016, he said ahead of that year’s presidential election that he “didn’t need this” and that he “could be doing other things.” He made similar remarks last month during the RNC midterm convention in Texas, telling attendees he “had a great life before” and that he “didn’t need to be here tonight.”
Attendees erupted into applause at Trump’s remarks and began chanting “four more years!” Trump laughed in response and admitted that he’d “love to do the four-more-years thing” before pivoting to attack the media.
