Elon Musk broke off his relationship with Shivon Zilis, his partner and longtime confidante who has worked for several of his businesses, in what Zilis said was a sudden change from “in love to let go in a week with no warning.”
Zilis, mother of four children with Musk, said she hopes they “can be great friends and coparents.” Zilis, who has held executive and advisory roles at his companies, had appeared at Musk’s side at gatherings of political elite in recent years. She took the stand in May during the explosive trial pitting Musk against fellow co-founders of OpenAI.
Musk has a history of tumultuous romantic relationships, resulting in at least a dozen children and multiple custody battles. Musk offered to donate his sperm to Zilis to conceive children through IVF in 2020, she testified, and the pair had twins in secret in 2021. Business Insider revealed in 2022 that they had parented the twins.
Zilis said on X, “There is a lot of loss, but luckily we created four beautiful little loves of my life.”
