Trump left crowd ‘dazed and confused’ with ‘totally bonkers’ ballroom remark: analyst

President Donald Trump left a crowd at a White House celebration confused with a bizarre remark about who could survive a fall.

Progressive political analyst David Pakman broke down the moment in a Thursday episode of “The David Pakman Show,” explaining that Trump “said something so bizarre that even the crowd there to support him seemed dazed and confused about what he said.”

The remark came during a Hispanic Heritage Month event at the White House, where Trump was touting his new ballroom. He described it as “the greatest ballroom ever built” and said, “It’s also a tremendous military complex with a drone port on top.”

“So be very careful. Don’t fall over the edge because it’s a long way down,” Trump told attendees. “And only a Hispanic could survive that fall. So I’m not overly worried. I’m not overly worried.”

“What does that even mean?” Pakman asked. “Only a Hispanic could survive falling off the edge of a construction site? Now the crowd cheered. I don’t think they knew what he was talking about. I don’t think they knew what he was cheering for. I’m Hispanic. I don’t understand it.”

He added, “This is the president of the United States, folks.”

Pakman noted that the Washington Post confirmed the construction area lacked fencing. He called Trump’s comment “totally bonkers and cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.”

He said the remark “was only the beginning.” Trump also claimed the country has “probably 97 car plants” under construction and added, “We had none for 48 years.”

“There are currently 55 light vehicle assembly plants in the great United States,” Pakman said. “This is the Trump method. Don’t say three, don’t say five. You say 97. Make the number so big that people assume there must be something behind it.”

Trump also boasted that “they pay me 550,000 a year” and claimed he was the only president to donate his salary. Pakman countered the salary is $400,000 and that Herbert Hoover, John F. Kennedy and Franklin Roosevelt also gave away their pay.

“The real issue is Trump wants you to focus on how he’s donating a few hundred thousand dollars,” Pakman said, pointing to the Trump family’s crypto ventures. “So it’s sort of like, give me credit for donating a penny while I snatch $100 bills out of the air.”
