A doctor’s recent speculations about Sen. Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) health caused one political analyst to demand “basic clarity” about the senator’s condition.
McConnell sparked controversy a few months ago when he suddenly vanishedfrom the Senate. He has since explained that he fell at home and was briefly unconscious before he was taken to a hospital, where he developed a mild case of pneumonia. McConnell has since returned to work briefly, and video of his colleagues having to nudge him on how to vote on a bill alarmed many analysts.
David Pakman, host of the liberal “David Pakman Show” on YouTube, said during a recent video that Dr. John Garrison’s, a forensic psychologist, assessment of McConnell’s health worried him. Garrison recently said McConnell seems incapable of understanding what is going on around him, which could be a sign of Parkinsons or dementia.
“We don’t really know what’s happening medically with Mitch McConnell,” Pakman said. “We don’t need a diagnosis to identify the key question, which is: we’ve got 100 senators; when they cast votes, do all 100 understand what they are voting on, and are they independently making those decisions? It’s just basic clarity that the public does deserve to know.”
