An alcoholic soft drink company claimed it will pay a $1 million “Bigfoot Bounty” prize to anyone who can provide mountains of concrete evidence for the existence of the elusive cryptid.
Hard Mountain Dew announced, apparently half-seriously, that it’s looking for “irrefutable” evidence of the creature in a recent press release, but if — and only if — Sasquatch hunters can meet the contest’s “rigorous” standards, including a “photobomb” picture of the beast.
Cryptozoologists are expected to turn in a whole host of forensic evidence of the mysterious monster to be judged by “Bigfoot expert” Bryce Johnson, the company said.
Hard Mountain Dewrequires contestants to have footprints, handprints and a tuft of hair of the creature.
Additionally, audio and photographic evidence is required to have a shot at the million-dollar prize.
The contest, which requires contenders to be at least 21-years-old, runs until Nov. 30, Hard Mountain Dew said, claiming that the contest is “timed to peak Bigfoot sighting season” as the weather becomes milder.
“As temperatures cool, more adventurists head outdoors, while increased wildlife activity and soft, moisture-rich ground create ideal conditions for spotting and preserving tracks of Bigfoot,” the company said.
Those who fall short of the contest’s high standards, but still have some decent evidence of the creature, will still receive a cash prize equivalent to a pack of Hard Mountain Dew,according to the company.
“Even if no one claims the full Bigfoot Bounty, the brand is proving it had the guts to put real money behind the myth,” Hard Mountain Dew said.
