President Donald Trump was slapped down Saturday by his most faithful MAGA supporters as he begged them to vote — on a Truth Social poll.
Trump’s plea waxed poetical about the “superior” tool he often uses in light night posts to depict himself as a doctor, Jesus, former President George Washington’s architect and a space commander.
“Many people think that the words ‘Artificial Intelligence’ are inaccurate, and very ineloquent, relative to AI, or Artificial Intelligence,’” Trump wrote.
“A far more elegant and accurate description of this new phenomena would be Superior Intelligence (SI) or, Extreme Intelligence (EI) or, Supreme Intelligence (SI).”
Trump didn’t waste time trying to explain to American voters why he felt artificial intelligence was superior to their own — he just demanded they pick a name.
“This is a Poll,” Trump explained, “and I would appreciate everybody voting! Which is the best name for this ever growing ‘Revolution?’”
Trump’s decision to remind Americans of his support for AI comes at an interesting time — less than two months before the midterm elections.
Artificial Intelligence is one of few issues on which Democrats and Republican voters both agree, as was recently revealed by a new poll from Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research and the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago.
“Americans have grown more concerned about the environmental impacts of artificial intelligence over the last year,” PBS reported in its analysis.
“Democrats are driving much of the increase in environmental concern, but the poll also reveals broader worries about the local impact of data centers, which power AI and cloud computing.”
The New York Times reported this week that even Trump’s Truth Social followers disagree with his belief that AI and the data centers that power it will be the “Greatest Economic Development Engine in History.”
“Republicans are increasingly concerned about the technology,” the Times reported. “The number of comments disparaging A.I. and data centers outnumbered those supporting the technology by nearly four to one.”
On Saturday, once again, Trump’s Truth Social followers expressed their outrage over AI directly to the president. Much of the frustration centered on religious faith.
“God is the only Supreme Intelligence,” replied one Truth Social user.
“Concentrate on lowering gas and food prices and not what to call AI,” said another.”
“It maybe faster in certain aspects and processes mass information better but in my humble opinion hardly Superior, Extreme or Supreme as only God is those things,” replied another. “AI will never achieve Godhood as it is a creation of man and ALL MAN IS FLAWED with the human condition.”
“It’s still ARTIFICIAL since it is a computer analysis and not human,” wrote yet one Truth Social user. “Plus it is only as INTELLIGENT as its source of inputted info to analyse, so if garbage in then garbage out.”
“I can say this: Supreme would apply to God only, IMO,” another commenter replied.
“I don’t know who suggested this poll to you or if this was your idea,” noted a third, “but if someone did, you might want to fire that person.”
