GOP senator forgives himself as he admits Americans are dying: ‘You can’t wallow’

Sen. Bill Cassidy‘s (R-LA) has forgiven himself for confirming the nomination of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — even as admits Americans are dying from preventable diseases, according to a new report.

Cassidy, a physician whose reelection bid was savaged this year by President Donald Trump, dismissed his pivotal vote to help Kennedy secure the powerful position in a new interview with Politico‘s Dasha Burns.

“You can’t wallow,” he said. “You gotta move on.”

That breezy dismissal came sandwiched between blistering attacks on Kennedy and his Make America Healthy Again movement.

“If the way that you, quote unquote, ‘are serving the American people,’ is by confusing them as to the safety and benefits of vaccines, so much so that we have people dying from vaccine-preventable diseases like they haven’t died for decades,” Cassidy told Burns. “That’s not serving the American people — that’s doing wrong to the American people.”

Kennedy, who has no medical or public health background, has spent years pushing debunked vaccine theories despite recently voicing support for the measles shot.

Cassidy branded MAHA’s candidates and backers “bankrupt” and “ideologically driven.” He also shot down talk of impeaching Kennedy, telling Burns there is a “snowball’s chance” of that happening.

Measles cases have hit nearly 3,300 confirmed this year, blowing past the roughly 2,300 recorded in all of 2025, according to CDC data — the worst toll in decades, as Cassidy has separately warned lawmakers the measles surge threatens to become a “terrible legacy” for the Trump administration.

Experts blame sagging vaccination rates.

The outgoing senator’s move-on routine caps months of contentious, on-camera confrontations over his RFK Jr. vote — one he still refuses to call a mistake.
