‘SNL UK’ roasts Prince Harry, Meghan Markle over their UK return: ‘Daddy, I’m home’

“Saturday Night Live UK” lampooned Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s return to the country with a suggestion they ran out of money from their lucrative Netflix deal.

The Season 2 premiere began with a cold open in which actors Jack Shep and Ayoade Bamgboye, portraying the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, visit King Charles III (Larry Dean) and Queen Camilla (Emma Sidi) at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

“Daddy,” Prince Harry addresses his father, “I’m home.”

“Don’t tell me you’ve spent all your Netflix money already,” the King asks, to which Harry responds, “It was $60 million. How long was it meant to last?”

“Hello, sweet Harry,” Camilla interjects, adding, “And beautiful Meghan, as brown as ever” — an apparent reference to Harry and Meghan’s accusation during an interview with Oprah Winfrey that a member of the royal family asked how dark Prince Archie’s skin might be, as Markle is biracial.

(Those claims were shot down by Prince William and the now-late Queen Elizabeth II at the time, with the former saying the royals are “very much not a racist family” and the latter noting that “issues raised, particularly that of race, [were] concerning.”)

“Hey Step Queen. I brought you a gift. It’s ice. I made it myself. I can give you the recipe. I’m kind of a wiz in the kitchen,” Markle quips in the sketch — perhaps a dig at the real-life Markle’s attempts at establishing herself as a lifestyle expert and her Emmy-nominated Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan.”

“It’s true,” Prince Harry chimes in. “She hires the best cooks.”

Amid the tense moment UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham — played by George Fouracres — enters. “Harry, Megan, I’m here to tell you that just because you’re normal folk doesn’t mean your life has to be crap,” he jokes. “That is the Burnham promise.”

A rep for Harry and Meghan did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Saturday evening.

The second season premiere for the series was hosted by “Jurassic Park” star Jeff Goldblum, with musical guest CMAT.

Last month, news broke that the couple — who famously left their roles as working members of the royal family to move to sunny Southern California in 2020 — would be returning to Prince Harry’s home country and enrolling their children, Archie, 7 and Lilibet, 5, in an upscale prep school there.

Though speculation abounded as to the reason for the relocation — with a source telling us last month they “think cash is a big” reason — separate sources told Page Six that the real motivation revolved around being closer to Harry’s father and securing relationships with the family for their son and daughter.

The couple signed a lucrative multi-year dealwith Netflix after leaving the UK, producing shows on the streaming platform including Markle’s aforementioned “With Love, Meghan” lifestyle series and several documentaries, including “Harry & Meghan.”

But the 5-year deal officially ended in September 2025, with Netflix opting against renewing the contract.

News broke in August that through their Archewell Productions company, the couple ultimately signed a new “multi-year, first-look” deal.

The less formal arrangement will give the streaming giant a first option on proposals from Archewell Productions.

An insider told Page Six last month that the new deal is “not much.” They added, “It’s no risk for Netflix but saves them both reputationally.”
