Trump demands ‘Washington Colossus’ statue be enshrined at Smithsonian

In a late-night Truth Social post, President Donald Trump revealed that he asked the Smithsonian Institution to erect a 30-foot statue.

According to his post, Trump first asked the Smithsonian to install an 11-foot Washington statue before adding a 30-foot “Washington Colossus” in the place of its Infinity sculpture.

“I’m asking the Smithsonian to install the 11-foot Washington statue that was featured at the recent Freedom 250 Grand Prix Race in the Museum’s Flag Hall, and dedicate it this Constitution Day, September 17, 2026,” Trump wrote. He wants the Smithsonian to “immediately design and display a five-year exhibition worthy of the Life, Sacrifice, and Contributions of George Washington,” Trump added.

“Then, as soon as it is ready, install a 30-foot Washington Colossus where ‘Infinity’ stands today,” Trump wrote. “Replace a sculpture that says nothing about America with the man who, more than anyone else, says everything about America.”

Infinity is an abstract stainless-steel sculpture that rotates on its base in a looping, ribbon-like form.

Trump has repeatedly posted AI-generated images on Truth Social depicting him alongside Washington. One post showed Trump giving Washington a tour of the White House East Wing ballroom, which hasn’t been built yet. Others show him riding a horse alongside Washington, sitting next to him, or their faces put together side to side.

He said, “We should begin to honor George Washington in the lead-up to his 300th birthday in 2032.”

Trump followed with another post minutes later that ranted about how Washington “is easily America’s GREATEST HERO. Without him, our Country and our Freedoms wouldn’t exist.”
