Judge Judy, 83, makes major announcement regarding her future on television as end of ‘Judy Justice’ nears

As Judge Judy nears the end of “Judy Justice” in October, she also revealed that she’ll be ending her remarkable onscreen career as a tough-talking judge — and handing over her famous gavel to her son, Adam Levy.

“I have a lot of other things of interest,” Judy Sheindlin, 83, told People in an interview published Thursday.

“I don’t want to do hair and makeup anymore, but I still want my message to get out there,” she added.

Sheindlin divulged to the outlet that she’ll achieve that by producing “Adam’s Law,” a syndicated small-claims court show in the vein of her iconic “Judge Judy” program, starring her 58-year-old son.

“There aren’t a lot of people who can carry a half hour on their own unscripted,” Sheindlin told the outlet, adding that her son “has what it takes,” as he walks in her footsteps.

Levy, who told the publication he appreciates his “tough cookie” mother, shares three children with wife Lori Leichtman.

And he’s not the only one carrying the torch for Sheindlin — his daughter Sarah Rose currently appears as a law clerk on “Judy Justice,” which began in 2021.

Levy himself is one of two children born to Sheindlin and her ex-husband Ronald Levy. After divorcing Ronald in 1976, she wed father-of-three Jerry Sheindlin in 1978.

Though the couple split and divorced in 1990, they remarried in 1991 and have been together since.

Adam told the outlet that he learned self-reliance from his mother, who worked as a family court judge and prosecutor before becoming a household name on her self-titled show.

And her straight-talking manner evidently isn’t an act. “‘If you want baseball cards, don’t ask me for money,’” he recalled her saying.

Adam graduated from the prestigious Hofstra Law School in New York, but his mother “was not happy” when he turned down a job offer hoping to become a ski instructor and take a year off, he shared.

When the Suffolk County, New York district attorney’s office placed a call to their home offering him a job, Adam recalled, Sheindlin said, “Hi, this is Adam Levy’s mom. And yes, he’s going to take that job.”

Before joining Prime Video’s judge-themed “Tribunal Justice” in 2023 — a gig that lasted three seasons — Adam served dual terms as D.A. in Putnam County, New York, and worked in private practice.

“Maybe eight years ago he wasn’t ready,” Sheindlin said of Adam’s new high-profile TV gig. “He’s ready now.”

Sheindlin’s onscreen career ends with the final episode of “Judy Justice” on October 22 — and she’s ready, she told People.

“I don’t have to prove anything else. I did it,” she gushed, noting that she doesn’t “think that I’ve ever been this content before.”

Sheindlin — who won three Daytime Emmy Awards for “Judge Judy” and one for “Judy Justice” — made her television debut as a judge in 1996, and “Judge Judy” subsequently ran as a syndicated program for an impressive 25 seasons before ending in 2021.

“Adam’s Law” is set to pick up where Sheindlin left off on Sept. 14.
