After Nancy Guthrie crisis and intruder scare, NBC finally gets fortress-like security

Many NBC staffers are relieved that — after multiple terrifying security incidents — defenses have been reinforced at the “Today” show.

As Page Six has previously reported, workers at the show were on edge after the horrifying kidnapping of its co-anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mom from her Arizona home in February.

And then there was yet another scare in July when a crazed intruder breached security and got into the “Today” studios.

But now we hear that multiple levels of fortress-like security have been installed at the 30 Rockefeller Center specifically to keep “Today” show staffers safe.

“It’s a relief,” one insider told Page Six, “It was much-needed and took longer than people would have liked, but it does feel a lot better now.”

Another source told us that while heightened security measures are sometimes seen as a hassle at busy offices, “Today” folks have been happy to play ball.

“Staffers are more than willing to oblige with the new protocols,” said another insider, “It hasn’t been seen as a [burden.]”

Just before 9 a.m. on July 16, an intruder later identified as disturbed homeless man Andrew Truelove, slipped past security guards and got into the area immediately outside the studio where “Today” is shot.

Truelove allegedly confronted co-anchor Craig Melvin and asked him to tell him where he could find fellow co-host Al Roker before calling Melvin the n-word.

Melvin alerted security, and Truelove was arrested.

Page Six reported that a security guard was fired after the incident.

Nancy was abducted on Feb. 1 and has not been found.

Reps for “Today” declined to comment.
