Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s attack on his Democratic Senate rival James Talarico drew swift ridicule Wednesday after Paxton claimed Democrats wanted to “transition your kids.”
Speaking at President Donald Trump’s Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Paxton again accused Talarico of claiming there were “six genders” before declaring, “This guy is really obsessed with transitions. He wants to transition your kids.”
“Nobody wants to trans your kids, you walnut,” Travis Akers, a retired intelligence officer and history teacher, fired back on social media.
“Looks like they found the L,” the Human Rights Campaign’s Rapid Response account posted Wednesday on X.
Paxton’s appearance also drew a blistering response from political scientist and scholar Norman Ornstein, who wrote: “Pedophile protector speaks.”
Paxton has made Talarico’s previous comments about sex and gender a focus of his Senate campaign.
Talarico, for his part, has attempted to clear up the comments he originally made during a 2021 Texas House debate when he said that modern science recognized “six” biological sexes, not six genders.
“Obviously I didn’t say it correctly,” Talarico told Fox News on Wednesday. “There are not six sexes; there are two.”
