U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s public meltdown Wednesday has her critics yucking it up in a major way.
Laughter erupted after Pirro repeatedly refused to answer questions about President Donald Trump and his repeated demands for criminal charges against the Olympian canoeist he blames for the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool renovation his own administration botched.
“Jeanine Pirro puts on her clown suit,” quipped independent journalist Aaron Rupar.
The press conference was centered on a cryptocurrency investigation Pirro tried to use to distract reporters.
“You know, the president has the right to decide what he wants to do and what is important,” Pirro said, “and what he’s shown us already is that, through the executive order, that this cryptocurrency fraud on Americans is a priority.”
This didn’t sit well with Rupar, who used her claim to make one of his own.
“Pirro just held a news conference to warn Americans about cryptocurrency fraud — never mind that her boss is one of the world’s foremost crypto scammers,” Rupar wrote, “then had a series of performative meltdowns as reporters tried to ask her about the Reflecting Pool.”
Rupar was not alone in his frustration over Pirro’s cryptocurrency-case shoutout and her reflecting-pool dodge.
“Incredible,” snorted Canadian broadcaster Dean Blundell.
Broadcaster Bruce St. James retorted, when it came to corruption, “The call is coming from inside the house.”
“I think that’s true,” added writer Thor Benson. “I think he is very aware of crypto scams.”
“Of course he’s aware of the danger,” agreed blogger Hemant Mehta. “He’s the one leading the scam.”
“Is Trump going to turn himself in?” chortled economist Dean Baker.
“How are you not embarrassed? Do you have ANY self-awareness or shame?” wondered former teacher Mary McClamroch. “You sound like a 1st grader refusing to follow instructions.”
“For months we’ve been gaslit with the reflecting swampy disgusting so-called pool being the number one national priority while costs are skyrocketing and our demented president is demanding a former Olympic canoeist be jailed for ten years,” argued the popular X account Call to Activism. “Now that it’s all gone up in flames, we can’t ask questions? GTFOH.”
