Prince Harry dealt another major blow 2 days after King Charles clarifies his and Meghan Markle’s royal status

Prince Harry suffered another blow as Uganda pulled out of his 2027 Invictus Games in a show of allegiance to King Charles III.

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the country’s Chief of Defense Forces and son of the Ugandan president, Yoweri Museveni, made the announcement via Xon Tuesday.

“In order not to be construed as being opposed to His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom, whom we deeply revere, Uganda hereby withdraws from the invictus games,” Kainerugaba, 52, wrote.

He added, “We shall not participate in anything that does not have His Majesty’s approval.”

The military chief also told The Times UK, “I have factions in the Ministry of Defense that support that Harry-Meghan nonsense. I had to quash it straight away. I support the monarch. Period.”

Page Six has reached out to reps for Harry and the Invictus Games for comment.

The next Invictus Games — Harry’s international and multi-sport event for wounded, inured and sick military service personnel — will be held in July 2027 in Birmingham, England.

Uganda was announced as the 26th nation in the Invictus community at a ceremony in London in July, which Harry attended alongside other Ugandan leaders, according to the Times.

At the ceremony, Kiryowa Kiwanuka, Uganda’s defense minister, reportedly praised Harry and said, “This milestone reflects our shared commitment to wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women who have sacrificed greatly in service to our nation.”

The development with Uganda comes two days after King Charles clarified in a letter that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remain non-working royals, despite their move back to the UK.

The letter, sent via the monarch’s lord chamberlain, stated that the Sussexes cannot be addressed as His and Her Royal Highness and confirmed that they are “private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”

Palace sources told the BBC that Charles’ letter was sent to Harry’s team, the UK government, the military and lord-lieutenants.

A spokesperson for Harry and Markle, 45, told the outlet that they were “a little surprised to have not been told about this.”

The couple’s team reportedly received the letter around 2 p.m. UK time. Harry was contacted about the letter at 3:09 p.m., and had his team respond to the letter with questions.

However, the letter was reportedly sent to the media two minutes later.

The Sussexes landed in the UKwith their two kids — Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5 — on Aug. 26, one week after Page Six confirmed the family was moving back to England for an “extended period.”

The couple — who famously resigned from their royal duties in 2020 and moved to Montecito, California — have already enrolled their children in a UK prep school, and are reportedly house hunting in Cotswolds, which is near Charles’ Highgrove residence.

Harry and Markle reunited with the 77-year-old king (who has been battling cancer) and Queen Camilla in England in July. Archie and Lilibet were also present for the meeting.
