14-year-old boy shot near NYC park by gunman dressed in head-to-toe black: cops

A teenage boy was blasted in the leg by a gunman dressed in head-to-toe black near a Queens park Sunday evening, cops said.

The 14-year-old was shot in the leg near the corner of 153rd Street and Jamaica Avenue, steps away from a children’s playground in Rufus King Park, shortly before 5 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Police said the gunman shot the 14-year-old boy in the leg at the corner of 153rd Street and Jamaica Avenue, steps away from nearby Rufus King Park, around 4:50 p.m.  Peter Gerber

The shooter, who was wearing an all-black outfit, then disappeared into the wind on foot, police said.

EMS responded and rushed the wounded teen to Jamaica Hospital, where he’s listed in stable condition.

Neighbor Abdulahead Erragi said he was sitting at his home across from the park when the gunshots rang out.

“I didn’t come outside, I was still in my home. I was scared myself because of what happened,” Erragi said.

He eventually peeked his head out to see a group of teens leaving the Jamaica park after the shooting.

“There were so many kids, together like a team, like a mafia … There was a lot of drugs and a lot of smoking,” Erragi said.

“There was a big bang, or a couple of bangs and then birds flying. I didn’t really know what was going on, but I thought there was danger,” said Amber Logan, who was in the park at the time of the shooting.  Peter Gerber

Amber Logan was sitting on a bench inside the green space when she heard the sound of gunfire.

“There was a big bang, or a couple of bangs and then birds flying. I didn’t really know what was going on, but I thought there was danger,” Logan said.

She said the shooting is giving her second thoughts about spending time at the park, which features a children’s playground and spray showers, a soccer field, a handball court and the historic King Manor Museum.

“I’m going to find a safer place to hang out if this is gonna be where people are gonna want to do violence,” Logan said.

It’s unclear what sparked the shooting or if the teen was the intended target.

Police said there are no arrests, and an investigation is still ongoing.
