Hollywood A-lister goes incognito as he rides NYC subway

Back to his roots.

Native New Yorker Adrien Brody was spotted riding the New York City subway on Monday with a friend.

That Oscar-winning actor looked like any other commuter as he kept a low profile.

For the underground outing, Brody wore an all-black ensemble consisting of a baseball cap, T-shirt, pants and sneakers.

The “Brutalist” star has been spotted often around the city over the past few months as he made his Broadway debut portraying real-life death row inmate Nick Yarris in “The Fear of 13.”

The show’s official opening night was on April 15 at the James Earl Jones Theatre and Brody, 53, gave his final performance of the limited-run on June 28.

Page Six exclusively reported in May that Brody closed out NYC hotspot Estelle’s in the Meatpacking District to host an intimate dinner for his castmates, friends and family, celebrating the success of the show.

Despite wrapping up the Broadway production, Brody is known to split his time between NYC and his historic Stone Barn Castle in upstate New York, where he resides with partner, Georgina Chapman.

The “Pianist” actor was was born in Woodhaven, Queens, and grew up in Jackson Heights.

Last year, Brody gushed about the “wonderful foundation” he got from being a city kid.

“I grew up in New York City. I grew up in Queens. I took the train all the time,” he told NPR in February 2025.

“I had to take four trains each way to go to drama school. I got accepted to Performing Arts, and it was a public school, but it gave me a wonderful foundation early on.”

He attended LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts in the Upper West Side in Manhattan, which many notable actors, musicians, artists, including Timothée Chalamet, Jennifer Aniston and Al Pacino have also attended.

Back in 2009, Brody admitted that he might’ve received better acting training on the subway than he did from the highly-coveted school.

“I feel like my real acting training came from going to and from school on four different trains each way, because of how many human beings I’ve encountered, between homeless people and immigrant workers and shark businessmen and every kind of human being — every kind of human being every other step,” he told Fade In magazine.

“My natural fascination was that I gravitated toward their mannerisms — not to use as an actor, just because I’m curious, I guess. And rather than capture the image with photography, I feel like I capture it somehow and remember details very specifically, and I retain things very easily and evoke them later.”
