A guest on MS NOW reacted in shock to reporting about a very bizarre FBI hiring policy change — but MS NOW’s Alicia Menendez swiftly hedged it almost at once.
Michael Feinberg, former FBI assistant special agent, didn’t mince words when Menendez asked him, “What do you think is the most insane change” to the FBI’s new relaxing of standards for who can work for the agency.
“I think allowing people who’ve committed bestiality into the special agent ranks,” he said, without hesitating.
“Is the FBI going somewhere that is going to have no upside whatsoever?” he continued, noting that the agency “is often mired in controversy, right or wrong, and its representatives have to deal with the public on a daily basis in ways that often get fraught or confrontational or discomforting. I don’t know if making Joe Public have to worry about whether the person searching his house or interviewing him as a witness has raped an animal is really a conversation that the FBI needs to be having in this day.”
Menendez, at this point, chimed in with a very important qualification.
“I just want to say that was less well-sourced than some of the other reporting, which is why we had not initially included it in our own,” she said.
The FBI has dealt with a string of chaos and scandals since far-right Trump ally Kash Patel took the helm. Reporting earlier this year indicated the FBI director is in a constant state of paranoia about losing his job, although White House officials have denied this and Patel has sued The Atlantic for reporting on it.
