NJ mom and teacher sobs as she’s sentenced for sex with teen: ‘You ruined him’

A New Jersey mom and special education teacher sobbed as she was sentenced to 12 years in prison for raping a 15-year-old student she was “obsessed” with — as the teen delivered an emotional statement to the court.

Allison Havemann-Niedrach, a 45-year-old former teacher at Freehold Intermediate School, broke down as the victim delivered an emotional statement to the court before a judge delivered the sentence on Friday, the Asbury Park Press reported.

The student, who was not identified, said his months-long relationship with the teacher was “like a nightmare” and that he would not want anyone to suffer the same experience.

“For two or three years, I thought it was my fault,” he told the court.

“I forgive her for what she did,” he said, prompting the ex-educator to burst into tears.

Prosecutors said that Havemann-Niedrach was “obsessed” with the teen.

“I apologize profusely for my actions,” Havemann-Niedrach said in her own statement. “I am moved by his forgiveness.”

Havemann-Niedrach, a mother of two, pleaded guilty in January to sexually assaulting the boy when he was in eighth grade over a six-month period in 2024.

Authorities began probing the Jackson Township woman when the school’s vice principal reported concerns about her relationship with the teen after another teacher allegedly saw her rubbing his neck and back, touching his leg, and flirting, prosecutors said.

The boy’s mother told investigators that she had become concerned about her son after his sister saw him sitting in the teacher’s car and noticed he was on his phone late into the night.

Havemann-Niedrach ultimately sent the teen 25,000 messages, she said.

The boy — who allegedly bragged to his friends he was dating his teacher — eventually admitted to cops he had sex with the predatory suspect when his mom dragged him to the police station.

State Superior Court Judge Jill G. O’Malley did not hold back as she sent Havemann-Niedrach to prison.

“You are his trauma. You ruined him,” O’Malley said, raising her voice.

The abuse caused the boy to consider killing himself before he revealed the relationship to his mom, she said.

Havemann-Niedrach must serve at least 85% of her sentence as part of a plea deal.

She’s also required to become a registered sex offender and her teaching certifications have been revoked.

Judge O’Malley also ordered Havemann-Niedrach to never contact the victim or his family ever again.
