Between streaming and cable, viewers have a seemingly endless variety of things to watch. Here is a selection of TV shows and specials that are airing or streaming this week, Aug. 31- Sept. 6. Details and times are subject to change.
New and returning reality television.
Earlier this summer, viewers of “Love Island U.S.A.” went on a 35-episode journey with this year’s contestants — and now, with this reunion special, we get a status update on the romantic relationships, friendships and feuds that formed throughout the season. Hosted by Andy Cohen and Ariana Madix, the special will feature interviews with the islanders, unseen footage and an airing of dirty laundry. Monday at 9 p.m. on Peacock.
The cast members of “Jersey Shore” have been fist-bumping together since 2009, when the first iteration of the show premiered. Now “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation,” which debuted in 2018, is ending after MTV canceled it earlier this year. The G.T.L. crew might not be gone for long, though. The show’s creator, SallyAnn Salsano told The New York Times in May: “I think there’ll be another life for the show. Because there has to be; the fans are too loyal.” For now, though, its final episode will air after a season of celebrating milestones, including Sammi Giancola’s pregnancy. Thursday at 8 p.m. on MTV.
Since the influencer Alix Earle first gained prominence on TikTok, she has competed on “Dancing With the Stars,” begun a skin-care line and been spotted with some high-profile athletes. Now Earle is giving a behind-the-scenes look at her life and her large blended family, which includes her sister, three younger half-siblings, her parents, stepfather and stepmother, Ashley Earle (who was in the headlines as part of the highly publicized 2008 sex scandal involving Governor Eliot Spitzer of New York). The reality series “Earle Meets World” follows the family from ski vacations to parties in New York City to their New Jersey home. The show also teases Alix Earle’s perspective of her feud with the podcaster Alex Cooper. All eight episodes air together. Begins streaming Friday on Netflix.
Commemorating the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Hosted by Michael Strahan, the documentary special “9/11: United We Stand — 25 Years Later,” focuses less on the devastating events and more on how Americans healed emotionally and moved forward. The two-hour special features interviews with athletes, musicians, journalists and others as well as archival footage that documents how Broadway, comedy, sports and music all became sources of comfort and brought people together. Tuesday at 9 p.m. on ABC.
In 2021, Netflix released a documentary “Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror,” which chronicled the events of that day, the response from the administration of President George W. Bush and the subsequent invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. Now there is a new documentary “Turning Point: Generation 9/11,” which looks at how that day’s events affected those who were children at the time and who grew up in a country profoundly altered in the aftermath of the attacks. All five episodes air at once. Begins streaming Wednesday on Netflix.
A comedy about weed, a hysterical history lesson and a new PBS novel adaptation.
In the first season of “The Gentlemen,” which premiered in 2024, Eddie Horniman (Theo James) inherits an estate — only to find himself in the middle of a weed empire. Eddie is back for Season 2, alongside Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) as they find themselves more deeply ensconced in the criminal underworld and international business, which brings them to Italy. The show has already been renewed for a third season, so this won’t be the end of the journey for the dysfunctional duo. All eight episodes will be released at the same time. Begins streaming Thursday on Netflix.
In “Hazardous History With Henry Winkler,” the actor leads trips down memory lane about products in America that once felt normal but, in hindsight, are questionable, such as the cigarette lighters in cars, suspended window cages for babies and water beds. The second season concludes with the episode entitled “Surviving the ’70s,” but you can go back and catch up with his past topics on Hulu, Disney+ or the History streaming platform. Sunday at 9 p.m. on History.
Based on a 2025 novel of the same name, the new series “Marble Hall Murders” follows the previous installments “Magpie Murders” and “Moonflower Murders” with Lesley Manville reprising her role as Susan Ryeland, a literary editor. Susan, working to finish the ending of an Atticus Pünd detective novel written by a troubled young author, becomes a murder suspect in the process. Sunday at 9 p.m. on PBS.
