Taylor Sheridan is closing the barn doors on the “Yellowstone” spinoff “6666” for good.
Fans of the “Yellowstone” universe were excited about the spinoff — which was supposed to center on Sheridan’s real-life Four Sixes ranch in West Texas — after Paramount+ announced itback in February 2021, but the TV creator dropped the bad news on the “Rodeo Time” podcastMonday.
“There’s never going to be one; I would never fictionalize that ranch,” he said. “People thought that that was going to be a thing, but I would never do that.”
The writer and director explained that he didn’t want to disrespect the real people working on the ranch.
“So now I’m trivializing and fictionalizing something where real people work, and they raise their families there, and I could never do that to them,” he stressed. “I could never do that to the cowboys that dedicated themselves, and everybody that works on that ranch.”
“I’m very protective of the Sixes, and it’s a big responsibility to be the person who has to protect that ranch, so I have to be very, very careful with it,” he added.
“6666” was set to follow the “Yellowstone” character Jimmy Hurdstrom (played by Jefferson White) during his time at the Four Sixes ranch.
White told the Daily Mail last December that he didn’t know of any plans to do the spinoff.
“I kept my fingers crossed, but also, I’d be grateful if I got to do more and I’m grateful for what I got to do,” he commented.
He added, “I don’t want to be selfish. We got a lot of great mileage out of that show.”
Four Sixes ranch is a cattle and horse ranch famous in cowboy culture. Sheridan’s investment group purchased the historic property for an estimated $350 million in early 2022.
The massive ranch encompasses three separate properties, and offers panoramic views of the Brazos River Valley.
Amenities include a pool and spa, though according to a previous listing of the property, “There are truly too many amenities to list.”
Sheridan, 56, is definitely dedicated to the ranching way of life.
Page Six spoke to insiders about the ultra-successful television creator earlier this month, and those who know him paint him as a wannabe cowboy who keeps a horse trailer at base camp on his show “Landman” and is often seen riding around set.
Sheridan, an industry insider also told us, has a “big ego” and will easily spend “half an hour showing you how to rope a horse.”
