Nancy Mace’s ‘curious’ tattoo backfires after critics spot contradiction: ‘Grandma, stop’

Rep. Nancy Mace‘s (R-SC) fresh ink ignited a firestorm of opinions on Tuesday.

The House Republican debuted her new look this week, sharing several photos on social media.

“Thoughts and prayers to all those affected by my sleeves,” Mace quipped.

The internet was quick to notice her body art — and offer their own interpretations.

“I like tattoos and think yours are well done. I’m curious what inspired you to get the opening line of Mrs. Dalloway tattooed on your arm. Dalloway, as you know, is buying flowers for her dinner party. But it’s at the dinner party where she wrestles with her homosexual memories of, and desires for, her friend Sally. Although you voted for gay marriage twice, you’ve made disparaging remarks about gay people. Would that book, written by a bisexual feminist, not be against your moral values?” Fashion and menswear writer Derek Guy wrote on X.

“The vape store cashier watching me hit ‘no tip’ on the iPad,” wrote X account President-Elect Toguro, a frequent political commentator.

“Grandma, stop. Please,” X account Henri Fjord, who frequently shares progressive political commentary, wrote.

Some commentators called out the Republican lawmaker and questioned her move.

“There will never be a dumber timeline than the one we’re living in right now,” Justin Brannan, former New York City Council member and current senior director of major event operations for New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, wrote on X.

“Why are you tweeting about this from your government account?” Reason reporter Billy Binion wrote on X.

And longtime Trump ally and Republican operative Roger Stone also added his

“I’m no Nancy Mace but I like my tattoo,” Stone wrote on X, sharing a 2017 black-and-white photo by photographer Ron Harvey featuring Stone’s back and his former President Richard Nixon tattoo.

Thoughts and prayers to all those affected by my sleeves. Made the mistake of opening my social media this afternoon. Some of yall are OUT OF CONTROL. My biceps should NOT be a news story. We have more important things to worry about. Goodness. And God Bless America. 🙏🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/YJyMC23FJf — Nancy Mace (@NancyMace) August 17, 2026
