A New Jersey driver veered into oncoming traffic on a Pennsylvania road, killing two motorcyclists, after she “freaked out” over a bug, police said.
Bernadette Cobb, 55, was driving east on a two-lane road in Luthersburg, about two hours northeast of Pittsburgh, when an insect flew in her open window around 4:45 p.m. on Aug. 12, NJ.com reported.

The Brick resident told cops that she “freaked out” upon seeing the pest and tried to swipe the bug away, “put[ting] her head down by accident,” according to a police affidavit.
But while Cobb was distracted by the creepy-crawler, her vehicle began to drift into the oncoming lane, according to the affidavit.
Cobb’s passenger attempted to grab the wheel and fix the car’s course, but her vehicle still crashed into a 2013 Harley-Davidson, Pennsylvania troopers said.
Both the Harley driver, Anthony Sones, 34, and his passenger, Miranda Wormuth, 30, died at the scene.
A GoFundMe created by Wormuth’s family described the two motorcyclists as partners of 14 years.
Cobb was arrested at the scene and hit with a bevy of charges, including homicide and involuntary manslaughter, the outlet reported, and has since posted $100,000 in bail.

Cobb’s attorney Brian Manchester, told NJ.com that the crash was a “tragic accident.”
The lawyer also said that his client was cuffed before an accident reconstruction had examined the crash.
“We will defend her vigorously,” Manchester told the outlet.
