Narcan found at scene of Hayden Panettiere’s apparent overdose: report

Narcan — a medicine typically used to quickly reverse an opioid overdose — was reportedly found at the scene of Hayden Panettiere’s death.

Narcan was found in the apartment in Greenville, South Carolina, where the actress died, TMZ reportedMonday.  According to sources, the device used to dispense the potentially life-saving medicine was found on a mattress.

However, it is unknown if Panettiere received the dose of Narcan of if another person in distress at the apartment did.

The “Nashville” alum died in her South Carolina home after an “overdose,”according to 911 dispatch audio obtained by Page Six.

Paramedics responded to a call about an “unidentified female” in “cardiac arrest” on Sunday and, within minutes, “CPR [was] in progress” for the “overdose.”

Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate her at the apartment complex with “advanced cardiac life support” and chest compressions, but she was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m.

Panettiere was 36 years old.

The actress was open about her struggles with opioid addiction and alcohol. She told People in July 2022 that her addiction spiraled so far “out of control” at one point that she “couldn’t live without” them.

She said she was first offered “happy pills” prior to walking red carpets when she was 15 years old.

“They were to make me peppy during interviews,” she recalled. “I had no idea that this was not an appropriate thing, or what door that would open for me when it came to my addiction.”

She admitted that she continued to drink heavily and occasionally took opioids as her career took off.

“My saving grace is that I couldn’t be messy while on set and working,” she noted. “But things kept getting out of control [off set]. And as I got older, the drugs and alcohol became something I almost couldn’t live without.”

During her final interview in May, Panettiere said she wanted to “leave the world a better place.”

“The strength is in our vulnerability,” she said while promoting her memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning,” at a Los Angeles book event.

“So many people have come up to me within the industry and outside of the industry and shared their stories with me and said, ‘Because you’ve talked about your mental health, it gave me the courage to be honest about mine and get myself help, and you saved my life.’”
