A new Washington, DC vandalism claim made by President Donald Trump on Sunday night did not survive the light of day on Monday morning.
Late Sunday night, the president flew into a rage that appeared to be aimed at US Attorney Jeanine Pirro, and posted an aerial shot of the lawn on the Washington Mall that showed extensive damage.
According to the president, “Look what VANDALS did to the grass connecting the vandalized World War II Monument and the vandalized Reflecting Pool, which will be opened again, and better than ever, shortly. Anybody who thinks the Reflecting Pool wasn’t vandalized should go back to Law School!”
According to MS NOW’s Jonathan Lemire, if the president is looking for the vandalized lawn culprit or culprits, they can be found inside the house.
The White House, to be specific.
“Yesterday, President Trump declared that vandals are responsible for large areas of dead grass on the National Mall near the World War II Memorial,” Lemire dryly reported. “But there’s just one key fact that Trump left out: That dead grass is in the exact same spot where Trump had a massive stage built and hosted crowds for his July 4th celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.”
“Trump, as is his usual custom, didn’t provide any evidence for his outlandish claim, nor did he state why he believes vandals are behind the damaged grass instead of trampled turf from the Independence Day celebrations, where thousands of people gathered to hear from the president and watch a fireworks display,” he added.
