Carrie Underwood‘s decision to perform at Donald Trump‘s inauguration does not sit well with Joy Behar.

On this morning’s episode of The View, the longtime co-host questioned Underwood’s “love” for America in light of the news that she will be singing “America the Beautiful” on the day Trump officially returns to the White House.

“I wouldn’t do it — even though I cannot sing,” Behar said. “I would not normalize him. She says, ‘I love our country.’ How do you love your country and support and normalize somebody who was a convicted felon, who really wants to destroy the country, in my opinion?”

“I don’t understand how you say you love your country at the same time as you normalize this convicted felon,” she added.

While Alyssa Farah Griffin voted for Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election (marking the first time she’s ever voted for a Democrat), she quickly jumped to the defense of Trump supporters.

“Respectfully, a lot of my family voted for Trump. They love the country and voted for him,” she told Behar. “I think people make these decisions for a lot of reasons.”

Behar immediately backtracked, telling Griffin, “OK, fine. And I would not be the person to say don’t do it because I believe in free speech and everything about it. I personally would not do it. No one’s asked me, but that’s another story.”

Griffin, for her part, thought it was a smart business move for Underwood.

“Seventy-five million people voted for Trump. Artists tend to skew left-leaning,” she said. “So she’s overnight going to become an icon of MAGA and the American right. She’s probably gonna make a lot of money off of it. So I get why she did it.”

In response to the backlash Underwood has been receiving, the Republican co-host blasted cancel culture.

“I personally hope we’re moving beyond the era of politics where we want to cancel peoples’ livelihood because we don’t like their politics,” Griffin said. “If you have a problem, you register your complaint by not downloading her songs and not going to her shows.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
