A CNN panel erupted into heated arguing and shouting after they brought up where to draw the line on certain candidates.
While talking about primary races across the country, Republican political strategist Shermichael Singleton called out the position of Francesca Hong, a Democratic candidate running for governor in Wisconsin, when Democratic political strategist Karen Finney shot back at him by bringing up Rep. Max Miller (R-OH), the congressman facing allegations of domestic abuse while fighting for re-election.
Hong has recently been faced with backlash over old social media posts and comments, including one where she called for an end to Thanksgiving. Singleton went after Hong by saying that she was trying to fundamentally change the country.
“It’s one thing to not like certain policy positions on the right,” Singleton said. “We’re not saying let’s fundamentally change everything that people love about this country.”
Finney then objected to Singleton’s point, saying, “All right, all right,” to bring Singleton to a stop.
“You’re digging in a bit much here,” she said. But Singleton immediately took issue with the characterization and shot back, “No, I don’t think so. I’m not talking about mainstream Democratic candidates. I’m talking about the extremists.”
As he was defending himself, Finney pointed out that Republicans are being represented by Miller in Ohio. Miller has stayed in his race for re-election despite calls from his party to drop out as well as condemnations from his ex-father-in-law, Bernie Moreno. GOP leaders like President Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson have notably avoided stating that he should drop out, and Miller has even compared himself to Trump while defending his decision to stay in the race.
Finney invoked that background during her debate with Singleton. She asked him, “Should we go back and talk about everybody’s tweets? Should we talk about Max Miller?” and then said, “He’s your guy!”
“Is he my guy? Have I endorsed him?” Singleton responded.
“He’s your party,” Finney responded.
