MAGA candidate supports Trump’s ‘Victims of Political Weaponization Fund’

GOP Senate candidate Mike Collins became one of the first major Republican candidates to support President Donald Trump’s “Victims of Political Weaponization Fund.”

During a campaign stop in Savannah, Collins openly supported compensating January 6 Capitol rioters.

Dominic Box, a January 6 rioter and QAnon conspiracy theorist pardoned in Trump’s mass clemency, asked Collins if he would support compensation for Capitol rioters and other alleged victims of political weaponization.

“A lot of this has been politicized and weaponized,” replied Collins, and added, “When the federal government harms you, then yes, they have a liability too. That’s easy. Yes.”

The fund became controversial during Attorney General Todd Blanche’s confirmation, when Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and John Cornyn (R-TX) blocked his advancement until they received written confirmation it would not proceed, Slate reported.

However, immediately after Blanche’s confirmation, the Justice Department issued a sweeping opinion granting Trump and allies new immunity protections.
