Newly released court records are filling in the case against Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old son of firebrand Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), who was arrested Sunday on three felony charges of sexual exploitation of a child.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Denver Post, the investigation began in 2024 with a Safe2Tell report that sexually explicit videos involving minors had been posted to an Instagram account. Investigators allege that one 43=second video recorded in early 2024 showed Tyler Boebert, then 18, having sex with an underage 17-year-old girl. He is accused of producing, possessing, and distributing sexually exploitative material.
Boebert told police her son was in the video but denied recording it, saying it was made without his knowledge. The girl told investigators he made the video and sent it to her phone, according to the affidavit. The document indicates at least six other people, including four juveniles, may have committed crimes connected to the material, with their names redacted.
“One person interviewed by the Garfield County sheriff’s deputy who investigated the incidents said videos were taken and shared back and forth to make others jealous,” the Post reported.
Boebert, of New Castle, was released the same day after posting a $10,000 bond. He faces three counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, all felonies, and is scheduled to appear in Garfield County District Court on Aug. 19.

“I love my son,” Lauren Boebert said in a statement. “We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time.”
In 2024, Tyler Boebert pleaded guilty to attempted identity theft after a string of vehicle break-ins. He faces two sentencing hearings next month in separate cases.
