Hunter Biden joined Tucker Carlson’s podcast in an episode that aired Monday, the latest stop on a media tour that has included multiple interviews with conservative media figures.
Biden has known Carlson for 30 years and was fiercely criticized by the former Fox News host in the lead-up to the 2020 election and during Joe Biden’s time in office. But the younger Biden has made a point of talking to conservative hosts in recent months. Earlier this year, he appeared on podcaster Candace Owens’s show. Discussing it Monday, he told Carlson, “I love Candace.”
Owens and Carlson have turned to criticizing President Donald Trump for the Iran war, among other policy decisions over the past 1½ years.
On the podcast, Biden called Trump “the one existential threat that I think we all face as a country,” claiming Trump is more than “the symptom of a disease” but is “central to why this disease has gone from a local epidemic to a pandemic in the United States of America.”
Carlson, discussing the unraveling of his relationship with the president, acknowledged that he mistakenly thought he could talk Trump out of entering the war on Iran.
“I overstated my own influence, like, dramatically, in a very embarrassing way — and my importance,” Carlson said, adding that he was “humiliated, correctly.” He said he was “grateful” for that experience, however.
In recent times, Carlson has teased his interest in launching a political movement or third party. He recently hosted a gathering of disaffected MAGA figures, including former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rep. Thomas Massie, and outlined a 10-point platform on a recent show.
